This morning I had a little moment over my morning tea, that warmed my heart, and I want to share it with you.
It started out as a text. My ex lover messaged me to say thankyou for the care package I had dropped him at his building site this morning.
I can’t really put into words how much I love this man. And whilst he doesn’t have capacity to show up for a relationship, there is still a part of me that feels like I have been contracted here, to remind him of love.
I believe we sign these contracts before we come down here.
Some of us are assigned as Earthbound angels to others, to offer ourselves to them to help them remember who they are.
Pop psychology says that love should be reciprocal. It puts love into boxes.
But love is not something you give with any hope of receiving something. Love is a source of radiation that comes from within — it is a field. It does not give expecting it will receive something back. In relationships, we need some conditions in order to be fulfilled, but this is not true of love itself.
Love just is.
And by it’s very nature, it is a force of receivership.
I know when I have been contracted to love someone, because it is effortless. Like in this instance — I feel full giving to him and knowing I am being in service to him.
I have this with other people in my life too. It fuels me to love them. It fuels me to give to them, without expecting anything in return.
And I have known this to be true, of people offering to me in this way before too.
We are Earthbound Angels — and the more we can come out of the scarcity of needing to receive something in order to just simply be and give love, the more that we learn that our very nature, is that of love itself.
Today, try and do something for someone around you, out of pure generosity. Buy a stranger a coffee or carry an elderly persons groceries to their car. We can train this way of being into ourselves through small acts of kindness.
Love does not care for agreements, it just wants to be experienced in its boundless, infinite nature.
This is the theme of my latest book, The Shape That Love Refuses to Take: Love as Magnum Opus
I hope, today, that this acts as your reminder to transcend the smaller self and come into some form of selfless service. Or that you are on the receiving end of such generosity.
Big love,
