When I arrived in India 2 weeks ago for a two week panchakarma detoxification protocol, I envisaged that I would be here, offline, resting and shutting off from the world to focus on my healing.
Little did I know, God had other plans for me.
Three days into the treatment and I started to go a bit stir crazy. I couldn’t leave the premises, I had no books to read and wifi was restricted to an hour, three times a day at the Mandapan (library) or reception.
What do I do for the rest of the time, other than sleep? I thought.
And I DID sleep. In fact, the first three days I could barely open my eyes. As my energy started to return to me, however, I started to wonder how I was going to get through each day with nothing to keep my mind stimulated.
And so on the third day, I went to the library and stocked up on 6 different books - one of them was Rupi Kaurs poetry book, Milk and Honey 🍯 (if you haven’t read it - it’s a great read, and I highly recommend it).
I read the whole book one evening and as I put it down, inspiration started flowing. I have stories to write, I thought.
The only issue was, that my computer had died just 2 days before - and that is where I normally write (using Scriviner - it’s genius).
So, I asked the reception for a notepad and pen and I started journaling.
My journalling turned into a kind of memoir- I was reminiscing on my days of working with men as a Tantric Consort in Melbourne.
Interesting that this would come up, now, after so many years- I thought.
The day after, I walked to the Mandapan to get my daily wifi dose and I opened my social media to a message from Dave Thompson. He wrote, “Sigourney, do you think you might want to join us for our next book writing intensive? It starts in just two days…both Davina and myself are feeling you there”
It all clicked.
Ahhh, I have a new book streaming through me.
If you haven’t heard of Dave Thompsons online book writing retreats, and you have a book inside of you, I highly recommend looking into it.
This was my fifth intensive with them - which just goes to show how much I love being in their space.
They are a publishing company, that offers incredibly well curated online writing retreats, designed to help you write your book in a week.
And, they work.
This week I nearly completed a whole book in a week, in amongst my daily treatments. I am close to 30k words in and just need to go through and complete a few sections and add the foreward, which will be written by a good friend of mine, Jon Eden Khan.
I can’t recommend this online container enough and so I want to actually just take a moment to let you know how you can also join us, this September, if you feel you have words that need to pour out of you and into a book (and I also can’t tell you how damn good it feels to actually give this to yourself - and to liberate your voice in this way).
You can join us for the next week long book writing intensive in September - there is an incredible discount happening for the next 5 days, with 50% off the super early bird price (until midnight June 13th). Join us here and write your book in a week. Just use the code 2025 to claim your 50% discount.
