I walked into the local fruit and veg store in my hometown, today.
As I navigated towards the Organic section, my heart dropped.
It was no longer there.
I started to go down an existential rabbit hole.
I have just returned home from the United Nations Climate Change conference and have so much hope in my heart, only to walk into my local produce store to find they have eliminated organic produce from their supplies.
I feel angry and disheartened.
Angry, because it is considered a privilege to afford something that is our birthright- to eat healthy, clean and toxic free food.
Disheartened, because the grand plans of just a few people, to change the world, are not being filtered down to local communities- or if they are, it is not any time soon.
I can often feel peoples projections of “privilege” onto me when I say that I don’t eat anything organic. It saddens me, to feel like it is something that people consider to be optional. Or that it is optional for those that cannot afford it. For me, it is mandatory and so I ensure that I am earning enough to be able to afford it - because I absolutely cannot afford the toxicity and healthcare (not to mention the guilty conscience) of putting toxicity in mine/my daughter’s body.
I had the thought today, “imagine if the funds behind warfare were distributed to every individual to have clean and green sustainable energy to their houses + to plant their own organic gardens… imagine the state that the world would be in, if everyones overheads were covered and everyone was nourished from the inside, out”
Nourishment and the feminine - mothering those that have never experienced unconditional love, holding and the natural abundance of the Earths fruits, are my remedies for this time.
Organic - our connection to a thriving, natural environment and the fruits of Eden, are our birthright, they are not a privilege.
Also, side note: I think you'll enjoy @elle griffin's work on utopian worlds. I think the publication is called Elysian x
