In Celtic folklore, the fae could cast glamours to disguise their true nature, making the ugly beautiful and the dangerous alluring. Today, we're witnessing the breaking of a collective glamour that has held our culture in thrall for decades.
The Hollywood Spell
For generations, Hollywood functioned as a dream factory, projecting images of beauty, wealth, and aspiration onto screens worldwide. But glamour, in its original magical sense, requires collective belief to maintain its power. When enough people see through the illusion, the spell dissolves.
The ongoing revelations surrounding figures like Jeffrey Epstein have torn back the curtain on what many suspected but couldn't quite see clearly: that the glittering world of wealth, power, and celebrity often concealed something profoundly dark. These weren't just scandals, they were the exposure of an entire system built on exploitation dressed in designer clothing and red carpet smiles.
What we're witnessing isn't simply the fall of individual bad actors. It's the collapse of the glamour magic itself- the enchantment that made us believe that material success, fame, and surface beauty were worthy objects of devotion.
The Soul Recession
Beyond Hollywood, this dissolution of false appearances is accelerating across society. Consider:
The Influencer Economy: We're watching in real-time as the carefully curated Instagram lives reveal themselves as elaborate performances. The mental health crisis among both creators and consumers of this content points to a deeper spiritual malaise- the exhaustion that comes from living at the surface.
Corporate Culture: The tech giants and corporate behemoths that once seemed invincible are showing their clay feet. Mass layoffs following years of excess, the exposure of toxic workplace cultures, the realisation that disruption often meant the disruption of human dignity; the mask is slipping here too.
Wealth Without Meaning: Even as some accumulate unprecedented fortunes, there's a growing recognition that wealth divorced from purpose creates a particular kind of poverty. The anxious, joyless quality of much elite life becomes harder to ignore, harder to aspire to.
What Glamour Conceals
Glamour magic works by directing attention toward the surface and away from substance. It makes us focus on:

What we possess rather than who we are

The mask rather than the face beneath

Neptune, the planet that governs illusion, fantasy and the awakening from the dream, is moving from the watery dreamy sign of pisces and into Aries, pulling us from fantasy to reality, and fast.
Saturn, the planet of structure, limits, and consequence, follows closely behind, crossing the same threshold. When Saturn enters a sign, it demands we build something real there. When Neptune enters a sign, it dissolves whatever was false. Together, at zero degrees Aries, the very first degree of the entire zodiac; they are striking a match at the beginning of everything.
