The Hadron Collider goes quiet

On CERN, the field, and what I've been tracking since the collider fell silent

On June 29th, right on a huge astrological day, with the Full Moon in Capricorn, when Mercury went retrograde in Cancer and Jupiter also shifted signs from Cancer to Leo, the Large Hadron Collider — the largest and most sensitive instrument humans have ever built — went dark. Shut down, deliberately, for four years, so that engineers can rebuild 1.2 kilometres of its ring by hand, deep beneath the French-Swiss border. It's being rebuilt to be roughly ten times more sensitive in luminosity. Basically, what that means is that there are 10 times more collisions that happen per second. Right now the LHC produces a certain number of proton-proton collisions per crossing; the High-Luminosity upgrade will pack the beams tighter and add new focusing magnets so that number goes up roughly tenfold. They are doing this by adding new superconducting magnets (niobium-tin instead of the older niobium-titanium, which can hold stronger fields), new "crab cavities" that tilt the beams slightly to improve how the particle bunches overlap when they collide, and a reinforced protection system. This engineering is aimed at counting more collisions, not a capability upgrade in the sense of doing something qualitatively new to matter, gravity, or spacetime.

And a PSA — this article is not a claim about particle physics. What I'm tracking in this article is something else: a felt shift in the field. It is intuitive data. Extrasensory. I am sharing what has arrived through me… through the nervous system of someone who has spent two decades learning to listen to (and who’s entire “job”) is about listening to what moves underneath the visible world.

What I've been sensing

Since the last week of June, something in my field has gotten louder…louder in density. There has been more interference in the field — almost as if a gate that has been previously locked, is now wide open.
